Macau gaming concessionaire MGM China Holdings Ltd says it has donated MOP300,000 (US$37,545) this year to Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop.
“MGM has donated annually for 13 consecutive years … contributing a total of MOP3.8 million to date,” stated the casino firm in a Monday press release.
“As part of this year’s initiative, MGM provided reusable handcarts” loaded with “food hampers for over 370 underprivileged households in Macau,” it added.
In operation since 2013, the Welfare Shop distributes each month food and essentials to thousands of families facing financial difficulties, helping households in disadvantaged neighbourhoods to meet their living expenses.
On April 12, members of MGM China’s management, including Kenneth Feng, the firm’s president and executive director – together with the company’s Golden Lion volunteer team – visited the Welfare Shop.
Mr Feng presented the MOP300,000 donation cheque to António José de Freitas, president of Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Board of Trustees.
