Genting Singapore Ltd, the operator of the Resorts World Sentosa casino resort, says the complex has “improved” its operational efficiency and reduced emissions in 2024, via “ongoing infrastructure upgrades and performance optimisations”.
“Despite increased visitor arrivals in 2024, we achieved a 28-percent reduction in carbon emissions intensity against our 2015 baseline,” stated Tan Hee Teck, Genting Singapore’s chief executive, in the group’s “Sustainability Report” for 2024, published on Monday.

Genting Singapore, a subsidiary of Malaysian conglomerate Genting Bhd, said renewable energy “remains a core strategy” of the company’s decarbonisation efforts.
“Our 12 solar panel sites, fully operational in 2024, have doubled our solar energy generation compared to 2023,” said Mr Tan. “We will continue expanding our renewable exergy network using new rooftop spaces from Resorts World Sentosa 2.0ʼs expansion.”
The company has pledged to invest SGD6.80 billion (US$5.05 billion) to upgrade and expand the complex, via a project known as RWS 2.0.
In 2024, Genting Singapore “brought back” the firm’s “RWS Cares Day”, with “over 300 team members volunteering to assist 60 households” in the Jalan Kukoh area of Singapore.
Mr Tan said the group “reached a milestone” in 2024 of “over 470,000 community service hours since 2010,” and contributed just over SGD1.0 million (US$747,608) in “donations and in-kind support”.
“With new partnerships on the horizon, we look forward to further amplifying our impact and inspiring community support within and beyond our organisation,” said the CEO.
The executive added that 2025 would “witness exciting new offerings,” as the group opens in phases the expansion of Resorts World Sentosa.
“Even as we embark on the ambitious expansion, sustainability will remain embedded in all facets of our business,” said Mr Tan in the report.
“To reinforce this, we are introducing our new sustainability framework, ‘LEAD’,” added the executive.
“This framework will steer our sustainability strategy moving forward and serve as the foundation for setting the standard in sustainable tourism, exemplifying how sustainability can shape the future of travel,” stated the CEO.
